What is Arithmetic?[edit | edit source]

Arithmetic contains the foundations of nearly all mathematical thinking. It is the most used branch of mathematics because it contains the basic function like addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. Arithmetic introduces us to a lot of the language of mathematical sentences and applies standards to our way of writing math so that is understandable by anyone who has taken an arithmetic course. Many people use arithmetic everyday, in their job or even just figure out what time it will be 3 hours from now.

Why Should I Learn It?[edit | edit source]

As I mentioned before most people use arithmetic everyday in some form. Without it you would not know if you were paying the right price at a restaurant or if your employer was paying you the right amount. The basics of it are unavoidable to function as a citizen in modern society.
